Kedzie Windows supplies and installs windows, patio doors and complete commercial storefront systems in Cicero. We work with apartment owners, condo associations, HOAs and property managers on replacement and new installation, including coordinated work around occupied residences. Free site visits and estimates are available.
Organize the project around the actual units
For a Cicero two-flat or other rental property, give each window a unit and room reference rather than sending one total for the building. Identify common-area windows separately and note previous replacements. This allows an owner to distinguish repeated resident concerns from a single location that needs its own evaluation.
If the property combines apartments with commercial space, describe the residential windows and storefront as separate parts of the inquiry. The resident access plan will not necessarily match the business entrance arrangements. For phased work, keep the boundary of the first phase explicit so unfinished units are not mistaken for completed work.
What the local housing data tells an owner
CMAP’s community snapshot reports that 29% of Cicero housing units are in two-unit structures and 61.8% are in housing built before 1940, using 2020–2024 American Community Survey estimates. CMAP housing snapshot
These are estimates of housing units, not counts of apartment buildings or condo associations. Housing age does not establish window age or condition. Use the figures as context for planning; define your project from the property’s actual openings, records and needs.
A local check before scheduling work
Cicero publishes separate existing-building permit procedures, plan-review information and a project submittal checklist. Use the existing-building resources for replacement planning and explain any broader renovation, rather than describing the project as new construction. We provide supply and installation together. Our scope is full replacement and new installation, with phased projects reviewed individually. Standalone single-window or single-patio-door work is outside our scope, except that individual residents may participate in an association-coordinated program. A complete commercial storefront can be a single project. Repair-only work and customer-supplied installation are not offered.

Local permit resources for Cicero
The official links below explain the local requirements. For your Kedzie Windows project, our team handles the permit process on your behalf.
Permit authority: Building Department. Official department contact and guidance.
Application starting point: Get the building permit application and submission instructions.
Municipal phone: 708-656-3600 ext. 469
The contact directory identifies building-permit staff separately from other permit functions. Use the building application and describe the windows and complete patio-door/frame replacement together where both are included.
When confirming permit requirements, we provide the municipality with the property details and proposed scope, including any changes to openings or framing. For an association program, we explain whether the work covers one residence, several units or multiple buildings.
We prepare and submit the application, coordinate any owner or association authorization needed, communicate with the municipality and arrange required inspections through completion. The municipality determines the applicable requirements and approvals; our team manages the process for you.
Common questions
Do I need a permit to replace my windows in Cicero?
Yes. Cicero’s permit-requirements page specifically lists replacing windows as permit-required work. It also lists altered window openings, so a size change should be identified in the project description. Replacing only a glass pane is listed separately as minor work; that is not the same as the full window replacement Kedzie provides.

Do I need a permit to replace my patio door in Cicero?
Yes for a patio-door-and-frame replacement: Cicero lists door and frame replacements in existing openings as permit-required work, along with changes to openings. Its exceptions for storm doors, screen doors and certain other minor work should not be treated as an exemption for a complete patio-door unit.
